Photography has an innate ability to change the way we see the world. It gives one the ability to see things they wouldn’t normally see and fuels a deeper appreciation for the natural world. For me over the course of 45 years it has provided a life long learning experience, served as an outlet for creative expression and a source of energy and renewal amidst the stresses of everyday life.
Getting Started
Starting out in photography can be daunting for a number of reasons. I often talk to people who express how much they want to learn photography but don’t have the ability and/or means to get started. To alleviate some of these obstacles I am offering this internship program free of charge to aspiring photographers. Internships will be awarded based on need.
The Internship
Each internship spans 3 months and will include 6 one on one lessons. No previous knowledge of photography is required and if the applicant does not have a dslr or mirrorless camera and tripod, these will be provided for the duration of the internship. Interns will learn the basic elements of photography from understanding the exposure triangle to good composition to understanding light to unleashing their creative side and post processing. Successful applicants will have a strong desire to learn, be able to practice and execute homework assignments between lessons and be able to travel to the South Kingstown/Narragansett area for 1-3 hour lessons some of which will be at sunrise or sunset.
